I wish journalists would stop saying we are having snow in early spring. We are still in WINTER until March 20th. So let be clear about it, we are in WINTER and snow is part of WINTER. BBC and ITV news broadcasters , please take note and stop misleading your viewers. ( except me of course).

Ah - No, I think you will find that they are correct.

The meteorological calendar is different from the astronomical calendar. Not too surprisingly, the journalists and broadcasters use the information given to them by the Met Office.

Well, thanks for that, but there is only one calendar for me: the astrological calendar. The other one is an imposter and has only been invented for our convenience and does not reflect the true seasons.

I think the astronomical calendar makes more sense, having an equinox as the beginning of Spring/Autumn, because it's not until then that the temperatures really start to change, anyway. So what if the exact time of the equinox varies by a few days each year: it makes little difference overall.

As for the weather, I can agree it's totally screwed up: while you're getting snow, chaos, etc., the prediction for the next 6 days where I live is mid-30s: every single day. I wish (the astronomical) Autumn would get a bloody move on!

Either way I think we can all agree that hyperbole about the weather is extremely farking tiring.

Snow, chaos, worst since records began, etc.

Why don't they shut the fark up?

Maybe they have to try and justify their wages.
