After 3 punctures in one week (on my MTB) - it's getting a little OTT!!!

To be fair, it was my fault. After the first one, spent ages running a cloth around the inside of the tyre looking for the cause - but could not find a thing. Did exactly the same after the second puncture - again - nothing sharp sticking through the tyre.

The third puncture happened last night in real 'rule 9' conditions. Oddly, that did me a favour - as I lent on the tyre to deflate it, the wet tyre helped me hear air escaping. With the help of my front light (doubling as a torch) I tracked it down - a shard of flint, embedded in one of the knobbles. It was nigh on impossible to see from the outside and, I guess, was only sticking through when there was weight on the tyre.

Anyway, thank Goodness for CO2 inflators and the current Halfrauds £3.49 deal on Conti Tubes.

I am lucky to rarely get a visit. Having said that and seeing as I am going for a goal / PB / Strava KOM around the local reservoir tomorrow, no doubt I shall get a visit at the least appropriate moment.

Long live CO2 inflators...

Long live CO2 inflators...

Plus one for that. Just remember that if you do ever use one, you need to empty the CO2 and replace it with air as soon as possible.

As one of my mates discovered, failure to do that ends up feeling very much like a puncture after a few days.

Good luck with the goal for tomorrow.
