People have told me that this is ok. I'm concerned that the load of the clamp and my body weight is not spread evenly and although it maybe acceptable in terms of risk, is it to some of you guys with more experience? Clamping to doesn't close the gap of course. I'm in no rush because the wheels haven't even shipped yet so I have time to send them back. If you see it as okay can you explain to me why all the pressure on two small points is not a problem. I'd appreciate it.

Have you tried turning it 180⁰ to see if it fits snug?

Is it a new seat post and clamp, or have you been riding around on it for a while?

Thank you guys I feel validated. It's already back in the box with it's return number marked. this is the conversation I had
You can install it according to the picture in the video and see if the problem still exists. Tighten the screws.

i already tried to install it if the gap is there without clamping the problem just doesn't go away with force. That will break the carbon

OK, thank you for your understanding

We just received your email

Hello, we showed your video and photos to our professional, he said that it is normal to have gaps, you can just install and use them directly.

Me - The load must be distributed evenly though the length of the cup. That is critical.

Me - Mistakes happen but that is inexcusable I'm sorry to say

Me - Now I am upset. A technician just told me it is normal for a gap that big. That can not be true.

Hello, you can check after installation. This is the design of the seat post. It is normal for there to be a gap in the middle. We have sold many of them here and there is no problem. Please don't be anxious. Thank you.

You can install it according to the installation method in the picture first, and then check whether there are any gaps.

After you install it, take a photo so I can see what it looks like. Please don't worry.

Okay I will seek advice on facebook bike group
The conversation with the facebook group did not go well.
You may even notice the clamp is not the same as in the advertised picture.

Yes that's the first thing I did. There are two pictures of the gap one is flipped horizontally. It's new btw

If it's ally I'd say it's crap but probably not a safety issue.

If it's placcy I'd not touch it with a barge pole; given that enormous gap since as you suggest the unfavourable load distribution will really likely significantly increases stresses and chance of failure.

Personally I have no desire for safety-critical composite bike parts, while those sourced with effectively no accountability from such places as Ali Express have to be really asking for trouble IMO.

Aliexpress, but maybe that's semantics.

Don't. Doesn't have the quality control. You have to be careful with critical parts, bars, stem and seat posts.

You'd be better off buying a post from the likes of Planet X etc etc, yes they are Chinese posts, but they have better quality control and easy returns.

That post will fail.

Seconded on the QC issue. Had a similar seat post from AliExpress but as I had only paid £15 for it, it went in the bin rather than risk it. It's a well known problem with Chinese made products. Apparently to get the order they produce 'chinese copies' of the item wanted at a fantastic price, but when they get the order there is something called 'product fade' / 'value engineering' where they relax standards to get the profit out of the order. Here's Wharton, the US Business School, on the subject.
