"A British company has demonstrated a prototype device capable of stopping cars and other vehicles using a blast of electromagnetic waves.
The RF Safe-Stop uses radio frequency pulses to "confuse" a vehicle's electronic systems, cutting its engine.
E2V is one of several companies trying to bring such a product to market.
It said it believed the primary use would be as a non-lethal weapon for the military to defend sensitive locations from vehicles refusing to stop.

I always wanted a directional mobile phone jammer.

So, when can I get one of these?
Not for targeting errant motorists, but if it could be adapted create a zone around the bike to prevent close passes... I'd prefer it not to fry my liver at the same time though.

Well, I can see why you would want one of those, TC. But it's really just a - to be frank -
zapper. :thanks::rofl::bravo:

Too high tech - won't stop close passes by 1960s Triumph Heralds. (My most recent close pass).

I want an RPG on my handlebars and another on the rack at the back.

The Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers (IEEE) has a magazine called Spectrum. Years ago, it had an article about how to build an EMP gun using the magnatron from a domestic microwave oven. It was quite simple.
