I want to donate monthly to a donkey charity, but need reassurance that most of my donation will go to the donkeys and not to admin' etc!

@Accy cyclist I think I ought to tell you I run a charity rescuing neglected and un ridden bikes that mainly are 56-60 cm frame size.

So please feel free to make a donation and then I can rescue another bike

Mocking animal neglect concerns isn't a good look.

You'll be better off with a local charity that's run by volunteers.

Let's say a friend of mine and his wife have a very nice life working for a housing charity - big salaries, massive house, lots of 'functions and events' to go to.

I can think of a little animal charity we support in Dyserth. We go camping in their camp site which all proceeds go to support the animals there (most are lifers due to many issues). We usually pay a deposit for electric, but never use the amount, so give the rest to the charity.

having just seen the bbc breakfast report on the scum who torture cats, a charity dedicated to tracking them down and executing them would get my money
IT is growing in the UK but it was always there. I grew up with the B*** twins in my little village. They were brothers but not twins and they were feared even by those older than them.

It went around the village that they had a shed with an old bath in it. They also had a golden retriever. They were also into fishing. Can you guess what they did to make use of those two to enable their hobby?

They say it is an early sign of something not wired right when young kids torture, harm and even kill pets and other animals. These two brothers at least one would have met the standard for Psychopath IMHO. I seem to recall that he was locked up at one point for something but that was years after I left and I am not 100% certain of the source veracity. The issue was they were about 9 yo and their parents were terrified of them from what I heard. The authorities didn't intervene and they ran riot. All I knew was that I saw them and ran as fast as I could and hid. We all did!!

The other big issue is that modern technology gives the opportunity to share anything and everything if you know how to get past the systems that censor, such as they are. Once you create a place to share atrocities it validates those who share those fantasies or interests. So that brings more people into actually doing these actions then they make them increasingly worse as a result. Scratch an itch and you increase the amount of scratching needed. This is what happens too. It is significantly down to business that offer the services that allow the sharing of these activities. Without an audience I reckon there would be less going on.

However I would possibly not donate to a charity that fought this. I would prefer to support charities like those for dementia, hospice, parkinsons and other conditions that need more spending on research and support services. Cancer is something I have experience of through relatives and a known higher risk of one or two types of cancer in my family. I would not support cancer charities because relatively they are very well funded. As good as I know MacMillans nurses are I do not see a need to add to their coffers but the support for individuals with Parkinsons and their families is not anywhere as close as it is with Cancer. So that is why they would get more support. Animal cruelty charities can foster more support with just one propaganda video shown on tv. Is it any coincidence that there have been a lot of donkey rescue charity ads on certain freeview and freesat channels lately and this thread??? Do you think a video clip of a doddery old man with Parkinsons get a thread on here? Or even one of a young person or child with it for that matter.

PS a friend at uni had a GF or fiancee who was something like 19 or 20 and had been diagnoses with Parkinsons as a juvenile. So it is not a minor thing for old people who have had their days neither. Still look at those poor donkeys....aaawww!!!

Yeah poor donkeys, not looked after by billions of taxpayers money given to the NHS, unlike those those with debilitating illnesses you've mentioned. Therefore we need charities to help abused animals.

Edit....And it's EEE!!!, aaawww!!!🫏 Not 'aaawww'!!!😅

Perhaps you could find another worthy charity to support? Perhaps a regular donation to the local sperm bank?

Mind you, that could have interesting consequences in 30 years time as a generation of well turned out dandies takes over the nation.

We used to look after a donkey on our farm over winter when we were kids - it spent its summers as part of the herd doing donkey rides for kids on Scarborough beach. The owner lent them out once the season was over.

2 nursing colleagues married to each other (and I use the term colleague in the looses of terms). After their nursing careers came to sudden ends. Set up an anti drugs charity suddenly they were driving round in expensive cars with charity’s name on the side and going on lots of foreign trips.
They were reported to charity watchdog by lots of people but it was said there wasn’t enough evidence to investigate them.
