having just seen the bbc breakfast report on the scum who torture cats, a charity dedicated to tracking them down and executing them would get my money
IT is growing in the UK but it was always there. I grew up with the B*** twins in my little village. They were brothers but not twins and they were feared even by those older than them.
It went around the village that they had a shed with an old bath in it. They also had a golden retriever. They were also into fishing. Can you guess what they did to make use of those two to enable their hobby?
They say it is an early sign of something not wired right when young kids torture, harm and even kill pets and other animals. These two brothers at least one would have met the standard for Psychopath IMHO. I seem to recall that he was locked up at one point for something but that was years after I left and I am not 100% certain of the source veracity. The issue was they were about 9 yo and their parents were terrified of them from what I heard. The authorities didn't intervene and they ran riot. All I knew was that I saw them and ran as fast as I could and hid. We all did!!
The other big issue is that modern technology gives the opportunity to share anything and everything if you know how to get past the systems that censor, such as they are. Once you create a place to share atrocities it validates those who share those fantasies or interests. So that brings more people into actually doing these actions then they make them increasingly worse as a result. Scratch an itch and you increase the amount of scratching needed. This is what happens too. It is significantly down to business that offer the services that allow the sharing of these activities. Without an audience I reckon there would be less going on.
However I would possibly not donate to a charity that fought this. I would prefer to support charities like those for dementia, hospice, parkinsons and other conditions that need more spending on research and support services. Cancer is something I have experience of through relatives and a known higher risk of one or two types of cancer in my family. I would not support cancer charities because relatively they are very well funded. As good as I know MacMillans nurses are I do not see a need to add to their coffers but the support for individuals with Parkinsons and their families is not anywhere as close as it is with Cancer. So that is why they would get more support. Animal cruelty charities can foster more support with just one propaganda video shown on tv. Is it any coincidence that there have been a lot of donkey rescue charity ads on certain freeview and freesat channels lately and this thread??? Do you think a video clip of a doddery old man with Parkinsons get a thread on here? Or even one of a young person or child with it for that matter.
PS a friend at uni had a GF or fiancee who was something like 19 or 20 and had been diagnoses with Parkinsons as a juvenile. So it is not a minor thing for old people who have had their days neither. Still look at those poor donkeys....aaawww!!!
