Good grief! This guy's reaction/behaviour is extraordinary as there's no reason to suppose the blogger misrepresented the arm-trapping incident. You don't shout at people across a crowded platform unless you have serious anger management problems so it might not be an isolated incident. For suggesting someone should push the old man under a train this individual will be very lucky if he keeps his job.

I don't know. It's hard to judge without knowing what happened before the camera was turned on.

Can you honestly think of any justification for a member of staff to shout, swear and threaten a passenger, sorry "customer", like that?

If you read the news reports that did interview witnesses including the guy who took the footage, he turned on the camera because the TfL employee had begun to abuse the elderly passenger after the passenger politely complained to him about having his arm trapped in the door when they closed the doors too quickly whilst changing trains.

I know TfL employees are under a lot of pressure and do get a whole load of crap, but they are also some of the rudest people I have had the misfortune to deal with. Mind you, that goes for Londoners and British people in general, so they aren't entirely unrepresentative...

The member of staff in question is on my facebook list, but as already mentioned we don't know what transpired prior to the filming, and I personally couldn't hear any swearing on the video. Just the insults git and little girl. Of course I would never condone such behaviour and if any on my staff did behave in such a manner I would send them to see The Jogger (my boss). There are rude staff in all big businesses, but the ones who you see day in, day out and are always helpful aren't memorable, it's just the ones who get your back up that you remember.

I have been sworn at too many times to count, threatened more than a few times and assaulted a few times, not once have I retaliated in kind, because firstly I don't want to lose my job, and the people who swear at me, expect the same back so in not giving in to them, I hope that I have at least the moral high ground.

I agree. Whilst I don't condone rude or abusive behaviour, especially not when dealing with the public, I am slightly uneasy about the advent of trial by YouTube. It presents a snapshot of a possibly more complex situation and smacks of lynch mob mentality.
