ID this gear block, please?

We have an unusual freewheel (?) in. Can anyone ID the fitting, and appropriate tool for removal, please? The two-pin’ recesses are about 40mm apart, there appears to be a thread below the recesses.

Top picture appears to have engraved writing on the smallest sprocket.

Is it my imagination or does it say MAILLARD?

Try looking at it with a bright torch lit from the side to bring out shadows

Good catch - the writing was not visible in the gloom of t’dark satanic workshop. Certainly looks like Maillard. I will investigate further!

Yeah, from t’Interwebs it seems as if I have a Maillard Atom 5 speed. Apparently if you do not have the 35mm two pin tool, it’s a piece of metal in the vice, fit the notches to it and haul away. The threads go all the way to the base of the freewheel.

I didn’t measure it, but it has Suntour stamped on it and something that was used in the olden days called Chromemolly.😉

It’s 25 mm and I found another hexagon shaped one but that’s 25mm as well.

My thanks for checking it out - I suspect it’s a piece of iron bar in the vice, and fingers crossed :-)
