How about a quizz based on questions revolving around 80.
Examples

Clive Sinclair's computer **80
Who was involved in the eighty years war
Early computers used a Z80 chip. Who was the manufacturer?
Why is eighty shillings ale so called?
How many half crowns is eighty shillings?
Thanks.

How about this. Made for 66 but add another +14 and you get 80.

So if I swap the final subtract 10 for plus 4, it will equal 80?

No, you'll need to add a 14 by itself.

Anyway, not a great "logic" puzzle, as there is no logic way to solve it, only trial and error. I just happened to remember having watched that video not so long ago.

You'd think this would be perfect, given that he will be over 80.

The month of March in the year 1980 contained 5 Saturdays and 5 Mondays.

What day of the week was the 15th of March?

Answer: Saturday.

For a 31 day month, such as March, to have 5 Saturdays and 5 Mondays the 1st must have been a Saturday, and the 31st a Monday.

Saturday?

So if I choose his birthday, which is the 2nd, that would be a Sunday?

What about homophones?

Poor examples, but I reckon you'll get the idea.

What's Country has Port au Prince as a Capital City? Haiti.

What's another name for a working class evening meal. High tea.

What is notable about the 14th hole at the West Monmouthshire Golf Club. High tee.

What did the partially deaf person say when asked what they would like to drink? Eh? Tea.

Do you know what meal us northerners call our evening meal? Aye, tea.

What did the rave party goer do to keep happy? Ate E.

What did the child say when it trapped its finger? 'urty.

Thank you everyone for your ideas. My dad had a lovely birthday.

I wrote various ways of expressing 80 around the envelope; 80 and the date in binary, roman numerals, the equations from jef made into a subtraction, four score and AT.

I made a quiz of 12 questions about 80 based on Vernon's idea, which included everyone else's ideas too plus a couple I made up ( @ anyone get this?) plus some ideas I got by googling.

I also made a simple code to put inside the card because he used to make them for me when I was young.

My dad absolutely loved all of it and they've been showing all their friends.

I'll save the homophones idea for my mum's 80th in a few years as she likes words. I'll try and make her a cryptic cross word as she's good at them.

PS there's a mistake on the envelope, that my dad spotted! I finished it late on Sunday night ready to post in the morning.
