Idiot in LBS

Thats how:rolleyes:

I've encountered a few eejits in bike shops over the years, on both sides of the counter. One of the most memorable was a guy who brought a road bike in wanting us to 'adjust' his front mech, he'd taken it off to clean it, put it back on and not only did it not work, the bike was totally unrideable. As politely as I could I pointed out that he had installed it perfectly apart from the fact that it was now attached to the down tube rather than the seat tube. He looked me in the eye and said 'That's where it was'. I asked him if it had worked ok. He said that it had worked perfectly before and it just needs tuning. I tried to explain but he started getting really bolshy. He looked me up and down, said that he couldn't work out if I was taking I was taking the piss or a total idiot and ended up storming out!

Nope. Although I've got family up that way, and worked for the firm I didn't (and don't) go up to Norwich all that often. It's an OK department store, but it is not that posh, certainly no posher than John Lewis.

On Nelson Street?

Near the Fat Cat pub? I don't like it in there, too many real ale buffs holding their pints to the light and squinting, the chuffing knobbers.

Streetlife? That's opposite Fat Cat, Specialized dealer. Or Freemans Cycles is on Heigham Street which is parallel to Dereham/Earlham.

You're clearly doing it wrong. Order anything off the bottle menu with double figures, ignore everyone else, repeat.

Oh! Do they do Polish beers?

The Belle Vue bar-maids are far more attractive, IMO.

I went in to have the gear levers adjusted coz they wouldn't stay in gear. This was before the days of index shifts. Friction shifters mounted on the down tube. The guy fiddled with it and told me there was nothing wrong.

As I took the bike back and mounted to ride off he stopped me and said he'd worked out what was wrong. I was hitting the levers with my knee every time I got on.
