On a side note, I was in the city yesterday and saw that Cycle Republic has already rebranded to Halfords with that horrible orange sign creating an eyesore on Castle Street.

At least they had some credibility as CR - now the full-sus Apollo riding chavs and their ilk are going to see Zipps in the window and decide they must have some because they saw a set in Halfords!

I hear good things about the bike shop opposite the YMCA, and I'm sure there used to be a bike shop on Prince Of Wales Road, but it's gawn.

It's crap. Avoid it! They are very unfriendly!!

I had a bolt come out of my cleet so my shoe got stuck and he could barely be bothered to help, in the end I walked out and cycled around until I found another bike shop - found one near derham road and they were really friendly & helpful (near fat cats pub). I go there now.

Yeah you don't get the service now like you did in the old days.

I know a certain bike shop near where I work I took it in for a service.Don't think im in any hurry to take it there again.

You don't like Pedal Revolution thomas? It can be difficult to get served when they are running short staffed. The slightly larger framed guy isn't the greatest at both knowledge and people skills. Become regular or recognised and you'll never have a problem.

I was the only customer in there and the guy just couldn't be arsed. My cleet/shoe had gotten stuck together (one of the bolts had come loose) and I just wanted the shoe taken off and the bolt tighten. This happened once before, and the guy in a Bike Hut was really good about it and we had a chat and a bit of a laugh.

I went to Pedal Rev' and the guy had such a fob off attitude, couldn't be bothered, kept walking off and talking to the other guy working there, would come back for a minute, try something else, bugger off again to help the other guy do some mediocre back of store stuff.

I felt like a lemon standing there and felt like I was being treated as a moron when he spoke to me. He could of taken 10 minutes and potentially had a customer for whenever I'm in Norwich.

In the end I just gave up and left. I'd of got better service in McDonald! Heck, I've worked retail and even if I was hungover, in a foul mood and lacked any manners I'd probably have still have supplied a better customer service.

I don't want to have to become a regular/recognised to get good service. It's not hard to be polite, friendly and help a potential customer out.

I've heard other people complain of crap customer service from pedal revolution. I wouldn't spend a penny there.

I go to Street Life, as well as being the name of a cool song, it's also a friendly bike shop. I went there after leaving pedal useless and they helped me out and had a little chat. I have since bought things from them (not much, but I'm sure over the next few years I will spend more).

Once a guy brought his bike in complaining that the brakes on his recent purchase didn't work. Quite angry about it too since he'd had a couple of near misses.

He'd greased the rims to stop them squeaking.

Well the OP mention of Idiot, it wasn't him that was the idiot, but the LBS, if they can't put a wheel on a bike the right way round what hope have they??

And if you need more proof that they are idiots, they were running the service vehicle for the Norwich 100 today, I'd finished and was home watching the Grand Prix when a female friend who was doing the ride called, I thought it was to say she had finished but no, unfortunately with 10 miles to go her chain broke, the CyclesUK car pulled up 20 mins later and offered to fix it, 30 mins later they said sorry you need a new chain which we don't have, you need to call someone to be collected, so I was called.

Just in case I took my tool case, drove out to where she was and had a quick look, yes the chain had broke (side plate popped) anyway 5 mins later and 2 links shorter chain she was on her way, she called me later to say she'd finished  Yes chain does need to be replaced but at least a simple fix meant she could finish her ride.

So how can a cycle store and repair guy not fix a chain, what took him 30 mins to say it needs replacing, when 5 mins was all it needed, oh and yes he had a full tool chest in the car. Needless to say she was less than happy about this, more so as it was raining and she wasn't even offered to sit in the car while he worked on the bike, they have lost a customer for life and anyone she tells about this.

So sorry but Norwich CycleUK are the pants, can't mount a wheel correctly and can't fix a chain at the roadside, Idiots!!

I went to the bike shop up the road(expensive one) on my mess about fixed. The guy didnt take me seriously(not the normal guy) and spoke to me like i didnt know a huge amount about fixed.
I went, then had to go back up for him to take my sprocket off. I had to go up again and he didnt take me seriously again at first.
Then i said about the TTs i had done, and i had done his clubs open 10 and won the under 18s. Then he changed. He was pretty surprised with my time aswell.
Just goes to show that they judge too fast by what your wearing/what bike your on, and not how good you are.
The normal guy recognises me, ive spent enough in there!!!

So you heard that Ped Rev had a crap service, so why did you go there then? I've also heard that some have had poor service but thats maybe 1 in 100, and almost everyone I know who had poor service had a chip on their shoulder, not saying you do but you do seem to post more attacks either on drivers or people than posting positive stuff, just a passing comment. I've never had a prob with their service even before they knew who I was, and that first visit was for some rim tapes that weren't out on display, so only a couple of quid.

I've used Street life, their service to me was abismal and they didn't want to know, I only wanted to buy another pair of Specalized S-Works shoes, I even knew the colour and size, I knew they would have to order but I also knew they ordered on Tuesday's from Specalized and this was a Saturday, oh and they were quiet. Given that service I would never recommend anyone I know to use them unless its the last ditch shop, but hey ho, different people get different service from different shops

I didn't hear the bad comments until after I had been - google them and there are a few bad reviews floating around. I went there as it was an emergency and the first bike shop I found. I was new to Norwich at this stage. As for having a chip on my shoulder, I do give praise where it is due and do stand up for things where appropriate. Sorry that I don't post a thread every single time someone overtakes nicely. I could possibly start hundreds for every bad one...I do however mention positive things in responses to other people's posts.

Maybe I expected too much from Pedal Revolution. I had the same problem before, went to a Bike hut (commonly complained about on here) and the guy was really friendly and helpful and I left with a smile. Maybe I had too high hopes for another bike shop.

Street Life aren't perfect but they weren't rude and unfriendly like my experience of Ped Rev.

Well that just about sums things up, so far on the vid's you've posted I've only seen 1 that in my eyes was close or dangerous and I posted to that, as for the rest you just seem to think anyone coming within 6ft of you is a dangerous move, but at the same time your vid's show you are not the smoothest of riders and move around the road quite a bit, so in the same light you are also as much to blame. Instead of moaning all the time accept that things happen and move on, lifes too short.

What? No I don't. I avoid pot holes and things. The camera jumps around a bit so the video isn't that smooth - not my riding.

I think you just want to criticise. Notice I don't put 'dangerous' on a lot of my videos, but the word close. A few feet is reasonably close.

For instance:

"reasonably close van"...in the description "This wasn't particularly dangerous, it's just annoying that when it's easy to give a bit more room people choose not to."

There are more like that.

Actually, I'm not sure you understood what I said.

"I could possibly start hundreds [of threads on good stuff] for every bad one [overtake, etc]"...I'm not sure if you read it as I could start hundreds of threads on the bad stuff?

So you are not saying they are dangerous moves, fair enough so I can only conclude that you are feeding an ego trip posting close passes, have camera must post something/anything??

I can't comment on the roads down south but those in Norwich are on many of my training ride routes and I've never had to ride and swerve as much as your vids show you to do, but there again you do also seem to ride close to the gutter whereas I sit a good 3ft out, and I think I've only had 2 cars pass close enough to touch, but with a good safety gap on my inside I knew I could move away without worry.

This isn't getting any of us anywhere, your view on close passes differs from mine, your views on what makes a good LBS also differs from mine and vice versa, each to their own, but don't slam drivers or LB's just because of one poor experience, I do at least try to give them all at least a 2nd chance.

First impressions count. I wouldn't want to go back there, I just didn't think they were that good. I'm sure they do have good staff, but first impressions do count. I had a letter of thanks from a customer where I used to work for good customer service and I didn't do anything amazing.

Which videos am I swerving around on? I really don't swerve around or gutter hug and want to see if it's the camera (it's a budget action camera) or there was another reason.
