I just don't understand why he did not stop. Am I missing something?
I do agree with you, however the driver could see me stopping so I assume that was a clue to him.Peds hiding behind a pole and a sign by the look of it.

The law is a bit vague on zebras. I think that unless somebody is actually on the crossing, you are not legally required to stop. It's bad manners not to of course.

Zebra crossings
I'm not a lawyer. If the lady stepped out in front of the car on the crossing, and the car had no chance to avoid hitting her at that moment, I think the driver would get off Scot-free. I would be interested to hear other peoples' opinion.Thank you, that has cleared things up a bit for me. I understand that you have posted the law and no your own opinion. so, In the video, lets say the lady crossing stepped out on to the crossing because she saw me stop ( I gave no signal to anyone) and she was hit by the porsche and killed. who is at fault?

Zebra crossings. As you approach a zebra crossing
A zebra crossing with a central island is two separate crossings (see pictures in Crossings (18 to 30).
- look out for pedestrians waiting to cross and be ready to slow down or stop to let them cross
- you MUST give way when a pedestrian has moved onto a crossing
- allow more time for stopping on wet or icy roads
- do not wave or use your horn to invite pedestrians across; this could be dangerous if another vehicle is approaching
- be aware of pedestrians approaching from the side of the crossing.
