I'd love a Scammell Explorer so I envy you for your Milly!

Here is a very poor photo of my Mat parked on my drive, with my Rover Montego behind, back in about '98.

So I can make a list and still claim it as one, is that right - as long as they are all cars?
For me the Citroen Deesse is about right, I had one with the headlamps that went round the corner in advance, how cool was that?
I had another Citroen with a Peugeot engine economical but fast, I can't think of the name but it was also available with the two horses engine.
I once had the idea that a motorised wheelbarrow would satisfy my needs so I bought a Honda Acti pick - up with a 500cc engine and it did a stellar job once I had changed the tyres to radials. When I expanded my business the young guys wouldn't drive it as it wasn't macho enough so now we are in to the territory of motor car as symbol, so what do you have to say about that?
Oh and I once briefly owned a Morris Ital in case you were thinking of insulting me.

Nice!

Scammells were out of my reach too, so back in '93 I built one using a LWB Land Rover as a starting point.

The rear suspension is inverted leaves allowing 12" of wheel movement up and down.

All three axles are located with rigid A frames as on a Scammell Constructor and driven with its own prop shaft. The axles are widened Land Rover Salisburys with long shafts in both sides.

The front axle was also suspended on an inverted leaf spring giving 18" of wheel movement up and down.

To get 'Scammell' gearing I built a remote mounted three speed transfer box with three prop shaft outputs and a PTO.
Tbox 01.jpg

That was mated to a 5 speed ZF box with a low crawler first gear giving 1.5mph at 4000rpm in first gear low range, powered by a Ford York 3.6 litre 6 cylinder diesel.

I'd quite like to have it back*, as it still exists in West Yorkshire (without engine and main gearbox last I heard) but it would be next to impossible to get road legal again with the IVA test.

*This means we are still on topic....

Well, if we're talking sports cars...
I have seen a Seven-type kit car with Suzuki Hayabusa engines in it.
Note use of plural - two 1300 motorbike engines, putting out 170 horsepower. Each.
That's 340 bhp in something that weighs about half a tonne.
I'd love to have a go, but I'd be frightened it'd rip my face off!

I had a friend who drove a Talbot Sunbeam when I was in my twenties. A tiny car with a highly tuned 2.2 litre engine from a supplier who knew their stuff. Lotus. She called it "Concorde" and when we went up the ramp onto the flyover at the end of Marylebone Road at 90 mph, I was in absolute heaven. I really would like one of those daft cars.

Tiger? 4 wheel drive, one engine for the front, one for the rear with NO physical connection between them, just some very clever electronic trickery as a diff so the wheels turned at the same speed. A handy thing. Apparently the factory party piece was to take potential buyers out and terrify them.
The factory driver would then reach over and start the second engine...Think Tiff Needle tried for the world 0-60 record in it.

Back OT. Up to 3 weeks ago there would have been a list. I now have an Alfa Spider and a big stupid ^_^ everytime I get into it. Sun out, top down, 'Mrs. Robinson' on.
That DS in nice though.

Had a ride in one of these landrovers. It must have been donkey's years old and was still cruising round the bush on atrocious roads and surprisingly comfortable.

My only car was the best!

I can't remember exactly what all the cars I chose as my only car were, but it was definitely the best.
