If you could move to any country for cycling, where would you go?

For some bizarre reason, I've always fancied somewhere a bit wacky and random like Bhutan. I have no idea what the roads are like, but I bet they have some decent hills if nothing else!

A Dane once told me, "The mightiest waterfall in Denmark is four feet high". I think I'd take on the challenge of slogging up the hill to see that. I was lucky enough to spend five weeks in Denmark and I reckon it could be the best country in Europe for gentle cycling.

Certainly a top place for everyday cycling. Not really so great for anything challenging, and to be honest not hugely scenic either, although it has some nice islands.

Not scenic in the grand vistas sense. In fact it reminded me of Rutland but with a lot of coast. In fact some of the little sheltered bays are so peaceful and lovely ... And the people are just mega pleasant. In fact, I could be talking myself into a holiday here.

Probably France.
Have spent a lot of time cycling in France: Brittany, Normandy, the Pyrennees, Languedoc, Loire, Aquitaine, Auvergne, Limousin.
The Limousin is where I prefer altho' the Loire Valley has an appeal. It was my first cycle tour when after graduating from Manchester, acting on a sudden mad impulse, I got on a train and then a ferry and another train and arrived in Tours with very little money or idea what to do next. Luckily I bumped into a fellow cyclist whom I assumed was British and who suggested I try the Youth Hostel he was heading for. I have no idea if he was really British since he turned out to be able to speak both French and German with complete ease and fluency. Not a very British thing to do! Nevertheless after his advice I continued my tour with greater confidence, meeting many other interesting people from many different countries and generally having a great time. Although I have gone back to the Loire I have never managed to recapture the magic of that first tour there.

I'm happy where I am... the Lakes, Eden Valley, Solway Coast, North Pennines, Hardian's Wall and the Scottish Borders all within easy reach.

Endless varied choice

I like the idea of Hard Ian having a famous wall near Carlisle ;-)
My old family comes from the Eden valley - am looking forward to a week there this summer - must bring the bike now.

I tell you if the 'Bitter Together' camp wins this Scottish Referendum, then I'll be leaving the country, leaving behind all the idiots and going somewhere nicer.

The Falklands will most certainly NOT be one of the places I'll be going too!!
Since, if Scotland gets independence, I will most probably get chucked out :cry:wanna move to Cyprus with me and BigCat then?

France best road/traffic conditions, Italy the most scenic, but some drivers are sh*tes.

Home is where the heart is. I've only done a few countries with a bike but nothing beats some of my local routes. The UK can be great for cycling, but it usually needs a little local knowledge.
