I was going to be Oliver if I was a boy. (my nephew now is. Oliver. And a boy).

Interestingly, I was going to be Claire if I was a girl. Apparently my Mum took one look at me and decided on Susannah. Which confused my Dad when he arrived to meet me.

When my sister was born, she cried so much that my Mum joked she was going to call her Decibel. The woman in the next bed sad "Oh, that's nice!"

My sister has been asking Oli what name he thinks his new brother or sister should have. A girl is often Lucy, but a boy is whatever engine from Thomas the Tank Engine he happens to be thinking of. I wonder how many younger brothers get called Thomas for that reason?:becool:

Don't know about myself (might have got my sister's name I suppose) but I had a sneaky devilish scheme to dub our son Miranda* if it had been a girl. But I have a feeling the missus would have vetoed that...

*after Uranus's moon - not after any person! Voyager II had just done its brill stuff. I have a nasty feeling, this thread's going to take a saucy turn now I've made this post...

I would have been called Willemina Constance Gertrude Wigglebum.

What a shame I turned out to be male!

Funny that, I knew a Wilhelmina Vibeke Schellermann. She had loads of other middle names taken from the Dutch royal family.
