Scotland has that dubious honour in my case. In a quiet pub, a local stuck his face right up to mine and sneered "I bet you voted f***ing Tory". I hadn't actually, but the warm reception certainly made an impression.

Canada mate. I know you said you don't want to be like everybody else. But this is an incredible country in which I live. As an ex-pat of England, I can say that I don't think I'd move anywhere else.

We have relatives who moved there (Ottawa), also my Mum moved there for a while, so I don't know if that helps or taints the place!

Could always go to St. Kitts and Nevis?

If they would let me in I could go to Cuba and own one of those wonderful old cars from the '50s!

I have heard very good reports of Costa Rica. A whole load of people go there. No idea what it's really like though. I may have this entirely wrong, but I heard that they disbanded their army because the government decided that they had no enemies. This may be wrong, but it's quite a novel approach.

BTW, I think Uraguay just de-criminalised dope if you were thinking of venturing further south.

I've always liked the idea of somewhere like Andorra, but I have no idea what its really like, other than they supposedly have a really good quality of life there. Lots of Pyrenean Cycling might be nice!

Actually, what sort of started this off currently was seeing Corsica on the TdF. Yes its France, yes its in the Med, but is it really all THAT obvious a place to go?
