Gorgeous ride in! Though I start in 25 minuets so I think I missed the worst of it this morning. Some uncompressed ice on the ground still which made a really satisfying crunching noise whilst being broken by my tyres.

Miss timed the train aspect of my commute horrendously though, ended up over an hour early. At least im the right side of my start time!

Looked outside the back door and the yard was completely clear, with the grass only having a light sprinkling. So didn't bother to put on the studded tyres and cycled in on the normal ones.

However got out onto the road, and we had had a cycle of snow, melt and freeze, so there was a lot of ice around. Looks like we will be getting more snow on the weekend, so will prepare the bike ready for adverse weather. I have the tyres, so it would be daft not to use them.

Two and three years ago was much, much, much worse, and I commuted in every day on my road bike.

Bit icy on the cycle path, but I learned my lesson from yesterday and took it easy. Cold, but sunny and not too windy.

Snow expected later, which could make conditions interesting for our first 5-a-side outing of 2015...

Let's face it when you looked outside this morning you were tempted to say no way!! So be honest did you chicken out?

No, and no.

I have no issues with the cold weather, apart from ice on roads that haven't been gritted.

Oh, and my main boss called me a superhero :-)

Mildly chilly but nothing else to write home about here.

Could be a tad windy on the way home mind you...

As long as I breathe, I attack.
I was on nights , got the bike out and as soon as i got onto the country lanes i was thinking i must be fecking mad as they were covered in frost and lumps on frozen snow and i ended up walking the last half mile home as the side roads were sheet ice .Main roads were clear .
Not sure about tonight yet as its given out 4 in towns so a frost out in the country with wind and rain which could mean more dicey conditions roads along with winds.

The worst problem I had was a "stinging" hail in my face but thankfully no ice. I think I will make it home dry tonight the real bad weather is hitting the Bristol area overnight so should miss in the morning as well. I love cycling

Heavy snow when I left and plenty already lying.

A few yards from the house I stopped to let a struggling motorist slip and slide her way up the hill towards me but she was making a complete arse of it, spinning the front wheels like crazy. There came a point when the car's nose slid all the way round leaving her stuck on the steep camber facing the pavement.

I signalled to her that I was coming past and she decided that wasn't happening and that her pirouetting took priority. So she gunned it in reverse with full lock on and bounced back and forth off the kerb, the car gradually turning (despite her best efforts it seemed) to be pointing downhill.

She accepted defeat and rolled down the hill but was unable to stop at the bottom, sliding out in front of another car whose driver did very well to avoid her.

Why are some drivers so incapable of driving in the snow?
