Hi,

I was out early on Sunday for a nice, happy ride.

Within 4 minutes of leaving my house, this happened.

Put me in a bad mood. Has been reported and is being followed up.



Yes, that is a cycle lane to my left - don't even go there.

I think most of us see worse daily.

The danger is that car drivers would start doing the same about the unsafe or unlawful activities of a lot of bike riders too. These people were born with the chump gene, they don't suddenly develop it because they buy a car.

I had one of these a few weeks ago; late at night in a London suburb, so the same sort of quiet street. I yelled in my rowing cox voice, some sort of obscene blasphemy and the driver stopped, completely across my path. I then went in front of him, so he had to wait for me, shaking my fist.

An airzound is not much use with both hands on the brakes.

He was indicating the moment he came into view, so though it was a selfish and stupid manoeuvre it is over egging it to suggest that he wasn't telegraphing his impending idiocy to anyone who cared to look and that you were milliseconds from death/embarrassment/blood and gore.

No. Why should anyone tolerate this. Its simply not on. If the driver doesnt hit a cyclist they might hit a pedestrian or another driver.

Maybe the driver wasn't local and didn't see his turning until quite late. Doesn't look too drastic to me.
