When did people start ignoring other people. When did it become the unwritten rule that you don't stop at zebra crossings, when did people stop letting other people out and when did people just start walking past problems.

Tonight, in an icy car park, the car in front couldn't move, stuck on the ice before the give way. It was a wheelchair accessible van thing and after it tried a few times I got out the car to walk over and offer help. As I did, all the ignorant feckers behind all pulled out and went around us, not one stopped, they all looked, I saw them. I gave the bloke a hand and got him over the icy bit and then went back to my car and as I pulled forward another two pushed past, the last one making me brake so I didn't hit him. Then I get to the front watching a slow moving stream of traffic and no-one let me out, eventually a BMW driver did. I immediately let someone else out aty the rdbt. Selfish, ignorant, unhelpful gits, a curse on them all [/rant]

Today i went to steal some salt from the local salt box. walking past a road i see a van having trouble getting up a slight slop. i give him a hand but it won't go up very fast. A man is waiting in the car behind us and does jack crap all but sit there. A 4x4 comes down the other way. gets out. has a look and a lil push with me. decides it's one for a tow up. and tows him up the road. I leave to get my salt. come back and another car is stuck with 2 teenagers trying to push it. i give them a hand and get it up eventually. but behind is 3 cars which could have helped. but they didn't bother.

I am afraid I can go one better at the general odiousness of random people, although your experience is a good example. We went to my in laws in the peak district this weekend. They live in the Derwent Valley. The snow was getting really bad and so we decided to leave, following my FIL in his landrover (old school type) which had snow chains on. We were progressing slowly up the A57 towards sheffield, and the idiot in a Rav4 infront of us ran aground on a blind corner because they weren't carrying enough speed through the snow. We had no choice but to stop.

Eventually the Rav4 got going, and as we struggled to get our golf moving again, four 4x4s driven by those 'off roaaaaaaaad' types as parodied in the fast show came down the A57 in the opposite direction. As they saw us, they slowed down, wound down their windows and literally pointed and laughed at us. Loudly.

I was in the car. My husband (an experienced off road driver) and FIL (who trains people to drive off road) were having a discussion outside as to the best way to proceed. How they contained themselves I do not know. The obnoxious f**king c*nts.

Yes, all this 'haven't got time' thing. Years ago people didn't have cars, worked longer hours, prepared food from scratch and were generally a lot more pleasant to each other. What I want to know is, what are all these people doing with all the 'time' they are saving.
I commented on why people collected their kids from school all of 5 mins walk away & someone said, well, it's the time, isn't it?
