I'm lazy

On my morning standard commute today and I get passed by a fellow cyclist at great speed. I am caught unawares and I was "cruising" in a world of my own. Anyway, I decide I wan't to catch up which I just manage to do. Suffice to say, why can't I make the effort to go faster on my own. I got a PB on a route I have done 200 times. I annoy my self a lot.

If you want to go fast then pedal harder. If you don't then just enjoy the ride. Taking your time doesn't make you lazy! If I want to go fast I use other methods of transport....

Why put pressure on yourself?
Cruise along and enjoy yourself.
If you want travel pressure, drive instead.

@Rooster1 yeah I've had this scenario a couple of times, I think of it as psychological drafting, I don't think that it makes you lazy you can't set p.b's every ride

He was doing his ride, you was doing yours. That's all that mattered. Just sit back and enjoy your cycle. It happen's to all of us, especially on a commute I find. It does take an effort to just let it go though.

Letting go is the key to making it more enjoyable, definitely. The only problem is the humongous amount of will power it takes to stop your legs from going into autopilot and chasing them down! Must be a bloke thing as I don't see many women chasing the rabbit?

I find nowadays that the perfect antidote to scalping on the commute is the thought of my panting, red-faced, dripping wet, not able to speak self pulling up alongside the rabbit at the lights only to discover they've hardly got a hair out of place, never mind dying from the exertion.

So what? Cyclists do seem to take it personally when another rider passes them. Chill out.

Cycling home after the TOB final I passed a couple and the guy says we are just pootling home. I thought to myself he didnt need to say anything I was just travelling quicker than them.

Your not lazy buddy. Your simply going at the pace you want to travel at. Being lazy, is not getting out of bed and not going to work or just simply using the car for work. Alot of cyclists fly past me like rabbits on speed and I'm daft enough to try and give chase but like an over grown hamster, I soon give up lol.
It still doesn't stop me trying though :-))
Just enjoy your ride for what it is buddy.

I think it is a bit of a male phenomenon, and one I never fully understood. I would just be embarrassed if I overtook someone who passed me only for the legs to fail and be passed for a second time.

There is one guy who passes me most mornings with what looks like relative ease. As I approached another cyclist one morning, the usual guy passed me with the usual morning greeting. I thought, well at least I'm going to catch the guy in front but when the first guy passed him he shot off too leaving me on my jack wondering where it all went wrong.
