I managed not to be today, but I've never come so close to really really losing my temper and composure as about 45 minutes ago.

White Ford Transit Connect (HG56 *** ~ only got the first 4 digits ) 28-35 yr old short skinny white male. Wearing the usual dark blue tracky bottoms and t-shirt/hoody up top. Looked like your typical chav who's spent too much of their life eating shoot and smoking and drinking too much most nights of the week.

Textbook 3 inch overtake at speed followed by an instant slowing down so as to not hit the tail end of the queue at the red light. Quickly followed by the Driver opening his door into my path as I was re-overtaking him. He then proceeded to tell me that riding in the middle of the road would get me killed. I retorted that actually, riding in the middle of my lane generally has kept me alive and that it was actually bad drivers like himself that would kill me.

After our short talk, which ended on a lovely note of him telling me to go and "F**k my mother", I started riding to the front of the queue. As I was just going past, he decided to open the door into my side. Clocking my elbow and drawing blood from my ankle with the inside edge (y'know, the bare painted steel corner bit of a car door). While I didn't aggresively approach the driver (he'd already purposefully tried to knock me off my bike twice at this point), I've never come so close to the 'seeing red' moment in my life. 45 minutes later I'm still shaking with anger and wanting to embed my D lock repeatedly into his panel work, and indeed his stupid face.

Some people.

Commiserations. What a dick!

I was pulled off my bike once by a van driver on a two lane road in London. He stuck his hand out the window and grabbed my top causing me to fall off as I was moving. Fortunately the sensible driver behind me had slowed down and managed to stop. The first thing I saw when I got up off the road was two coppers in a car who'd seen the whole thing. This might sound like a good thing and indeed they were very supportive and told me to press charges. The CPS however decided not to bother. Thanks CPS you utter canutes.

Oh dear, not good, wat an absolute dick! Am not sure I would have kept my temper with the door bit or the insult, so well done for keeping it in check.

Personally, report it ASAP.

As long as I breathe, I attack.
You have enough of a reg to make a report , the way the plates work is that the police can narrow it down now without the last 3 digits as long as they have general make of the vehicle.

Sounds like you have a pretty good description of the driver as well.

Instead of D lock get the police to cell Lock:biggrin: .

Glad you kept your cool much better than a lot of us would have done , me included.......

Police witnesses? It still got dropped? That sounds like there is no hope for the rest of us.

Glad you're OK. Yes scum like that do have far too much autonomy on our streets.

I had a witness when a driver drove at me then spat in my face. Coppers did f*** all. To be honest, I don't think the OP has a chance, but I'd still be inclined to report, even absent witnesses. The thug might be known to the coppers already.

They'd seen the whole thing, but didn't arrest the driver on the spot? Says it all really "Fob him off, CPS will just see the word "bicycle" and drop it on the spot". I sometimes feel like the police are doing their best to lose the support of the law-abiding majority.

I have to give the police their dues for that one to be fair. One of them took me to one side and was basically saying "you need to press charges on this mate, that's totally out of order" etc. I got a strong impression he expected it to go to court. It's the CPS I have a beef with.

As others have said, I'd report it. It's assault as far as I'm concerned.

Glad you're not badly hurt, could have been nasty if the twunt had knocked you off at speed.
