It makes my blood boil that scum like this is allowed to have a licence.Today i was driving on the M61 near Stockport with my wife and youngest when some tit in a battered Transit cut across my front wing (lucky i was on the ball) and then sat on the rear end of a car in the inside lane.He did not see my lights or hear my horn.....people like that just need a needle to put them down,they would be no loss to society,actually proberly a big saving ! If the job is up for such culling then i'm first for the position !
Now i'm watching calm TV....."Escape to the country" !!!

I read on another forum not so long about someone in this sort of situation grabbing the door (out of an instinct to defend themselves), and ended up bending it well open.

I would be tempted to open the passenger door or the rear doors just to pee them off and make them have to get out and sort it.....then a needle to the back of the neck James Bond stylee !

Most things I just let go, like bad overtakes or silly manoeuvres, but if someone actually hurt me I would lose it. If that was me I would probably smash his wing mirror off, then make some bikeboot shaped imprints in the side of the van.

Joe, thats a horrible thing to have happened and I'm sorry to hear it. Technically he has not only driven dangerously but also assaulted you deliberately by opening the door. He after all, had no reason to open the door to a moving vehicle (if I've read that right)

I would also be inclined to report this also. If only to get it on file.

Yep. Report it. If it takes 20 mins of your time, its worth it. Nice bit of closure on it too. Then head downstairs, sit on the sofa. And be glad its done.

That said, you should try and report this. It's a serious offence.

As others have said. Definitely report it. I've put up with some terrible driving in my time, but thankfully never any confrontation like that. I'm not quite sure how I'd react, but you seemed to have remained calm and not thump him which can only be a good thing.

I had a witness when a driver drove at me then spat in my face. Coppers did f*** all. To be honest, I don't think the OP has a chance, but I'd still be inclined to report, even absent witnesses. The thug might be known to the coppers already.
