Imagine a world where motorists had to maintain the roads they used.

Our local cycle group clearing overgrown cycleway. The council don't do any maintenance on these.

Most would argue that they pay for the upkeep of roads via their road tax which cyclists should also be paying 🙄🙄

And they would be totally wrong as there is no such thing as Road Tax. Plus there are many 4 wheeled vehicles that are VED exempt. 😁

Only those belonging to the monarch are VED exempt.

All others have to be "taxed", even if the fee is zero.

That's the problem with some cycle paths around here, often rarely used and so overgrown and lots of debris on them.
On my longer rides I head to areas where there are some near busyish towns and so there are some there which are nice to ride on and much better than the busy roads.
Vast majority of my riding is done on the road, I only use a cycle path if its clear and if it's the better alternative to a very busy road. I'm sure there are areas though much better catered for.
