Wonder what will be said if the cyclists take to the roads as a consequence.
Wow, the surface is so much better and it’s faster riding on the road without all the obstructions and poor surface?

Most would argue that they pay for the upkeep of roads via their road tax which cyclists should also be paying 🙄🙄

I think it's inevitable that they won't do anything to price people out of their cars in any significant way. Cheap driverless taxis might get more people out of cars, but they might get a lot of people out of buses and trains as well in the process. It is inevitable with the decline of ICE cars. The loss of revenue (both VED and fuel duty) will have to be replaced somehow.

What motorists get agitated about is a tax that they pay and cyclists don't, they're not much bothered what it's called. There's no such thing as 'road tax'. All roads, apart from motorways and some trunk roads are funded through our council tax.

You're suggesting that many bicycles would clear a way through growing bushes?
Seriously?
Or a well used cycle path would be one a council might see fit to maintain
I've never seen any cycle lane maintenance in 25 years here
