See this is something I'm worried about upon my return - I'm not used that such large numbers of cyclists around me. Most of my encounters with other cyclists on my commute are simply overtaking the mountain bike pavement-hopping hoodie and spotting the occasional roadie going in some other direction. Learning and managing the etiquette of sharing an ASZ with anyone other than the arse who parked their car in it is going to be an interesting challenge.
Also, I have discovered that not only does my new place of work have secure bike parking - it also has shower facilities - and I know this because my new boss rides her Surly LHT in every day and uses them. Seriously at some point I'm going to wake up in a padded cell and realise I've imagined all of this.
Did I mention I won the lottery last week? Ok it was only £6.70 but it's like ... I've had a lot of s*** luck the last couple of years without getting into too much of a woe is me tale - I guess all the good luck been backed up and burst the floodbanks all of a sudden. Also I met a really nice girl a couple of weeks back, who coincidentally lives in London.
Yeah definitely due to suddenly wake up in a straightjacket and realise it's all been a dream in 3 ... 2 ...
"...back in the room"
You'll have no trouble in london. To be honest, you are about to begin commuting to one of the most attractive and civilised parts of London (may be just avoid riding the road along the embankment and pick the slightly lumpy shared pavement...the paving stones are pretty large).
I ride in through Kensington, Chelsea and out to West Ken, Hammersmith and the Bush (just not this week as i am feeling old and useless and am off the bike for a week or so)... but I always take a totally unnecessary 2.5 mile detour around Hyde park, just because its beautiful.
I find the last few miles (around your new manor) to be the most enjoyable.
