My stepfather's used one for many years, but he does have to carry various bits at all times for medical reasons. I prefer to carry as little as possible to fit it into pockets.
Having things in a shirt pocket.
Makes you look old
Makes you look like a nerd
Makes you look like a cycle seat sniffer.
I could go on.😂
I've actually been toying with the idea of getting one - often I take a Kindle or a tablet/keyboard (and sometimes powerbank/charger) out to the caff, and those could go in one - sometimes I need to take a laptop with me, but that wouldn't fit in one - that's venturing into rucksack territory - on bus/train trips I like to take 'cans' (over the ear headphones) which are also rucksack-type things.
A male friend was sporting one at a party recently, and I asked him what he keeps in it. "My man things" was his reply, which I thought was fair enough
It was made of leather, and he told me he bought it in Italy, so on style criteria alone, it got my seal of approval![]()
All these ‘Johnny-come-lately’s’ with their ‘man-bags’ :-)
I was using an Army Surplus bag with shoulder strap as ‘everyday carry’ in the 80’s for my camera, extra film roll and spare lens.
We used army surplus canvas bags for school in the 70s
