The Tahoe shoe from Specialized is a nice light comfy broad fitting shoe and good for walking.
The 2FO shoe is very narrow and heavy and as stiff as a stiff thing.

You got to try so either on line buy and return until you get the right ones or find some good bike shops.

I have these Tahoe shoes in 44 and 45 for summer and winter, usually around £60-£70

Upping this thread as I'm in the same situation.

I'm considering the switch from flat pedals and sneakers to spd pedals and mtb shoes (shoes, not boots).

From what I've seen online so far, I'm pretty much settled on buying a pair of Northwave (99% not interested in other brands...)

Anyone has any experience with any of the following shoes?
Or can you recommend other models from Northwave?

I personally don't like buying shoes/boots online whether cycling specific or civilian, much sooner try em on before parting with my hard earned dosh. As for Northwave they're a big enough brand that plenty of shops do sell them so they crop up in sales especially when a new model comes out to supersede them or at certain times of year and don't forget a lot of shops will 'price match' online retailers.:becool:

That's usually what I do for clothing, cycling specific and in general. Go into the shop and try them on to check the fit.

For a shoe, I'd say if the price at the shop is up to £10 higher than online, then I buy there and then. Not worth the effort of buying online.
If the price difference is bigger, then I just buy online. So yeah, 10 quid is where I draw the line

One good thing about buying online is that you've got access to more models/colours that you'd find in the store.

Depends if the returns are free (not sure they are now from Wiggle). Evans click and collect a good compromise and they do price match the likes of Wiggle. Order into store (you do pay, but so do you with online sellers), go to store, try on, return there and then if no good :okay:

But you're not buying from them? Do Amazon have all the models?

As long as I breathe, I attack.
I've only ever had Northwave because they suit my wide feet but my latest pair seem to be quite a bit narrower than the previous ones which were, as you say, wonderfully comfortable.
I have 3 pairs of northwave, the sportiest looking pair were narrower fitting than the others but still were comfy

+1 for Sidi here too!! :okay::okay:

I've got this pair, 'Trace' I think

Mine are a bit lower down the scale, so only the toe-pieces are replaceable
A work collegue has Eagles(?) & everything is screwed on, & can be renewed

The sole on mine, are the same as my older shoes

I also have 25 year old Genius (2?) that are in very useable condition too!!!

Used to wear Dominators - no idea what happened to them?
Probably 'disappeared' during a house-move?

I have some Shimano r109s

They're very roadie and very flat, stiff and slippery ( nearly killed myself on uncarpeted stairs once) they're also very comfortable and we'll ventilated so only for summer dry days.

I had never heard of cleat stabilisers until this thread ... I'll be trying some of them.
