In what way has the combined expertise and loveliness of CC members improved your lot?

Funnily enough, the most recent helpful thing was IT-related; someone on here recommended Pure's 'Network Magic' to sort out the inability of my Vista laptop and XP PC to see each other on my home network. Installed it and it sorted it out instantly - up to that point, I'd spent hours every day scouring the web and applying all sorts of fixes and changing every conceivable setting to no avail.

Saved me from many, many months of stress and anger

Other than that, I've met so many helpful people and many have restored my faith in human nature. Someone even went as far as going to their local Lidl to get me a pair of gloves and sending them to me, fully trusting that I (a complete stranger) would send them a cheque in return.

Same here. There's a good number of kind, sensitive, clever, helpful and (very) funny people on this here board.

Also, the expertise and lovliness of a certain member created a hat for me. First person to guess who made it gets a sweetie.....

I feel far less alone because other people like lycra too.

Although alerted to the FNRttC through another source, CC helped me get to know some of the lovely regulars and their encouragement has been marvellous.

The number of fellow women I know who commute more than a few miles a week and love it has expanded from one to lots.

I feel like if I were to have a bike-related problem I could get help and advice from a group of nice people.

Oh my! So many things.. Where to start?

The saddle I use was recommended by Punky Possum, the jacket was found by Wafflycat, I've learned so many more things about cycling and bikes than I could ever quantify, have met some wonderful people, flirted with even more, laughed till I my ribs hurt at least once a week, been moved to tears a few times, and been inspired to improve my cycling by the achievements of people on here.
All in all, I'd say my life was better for having Cyclechat in it.

Like others have said I've laughed, cried and also learned lots of things about bikes and people'. I have met some and that has always been an uplifting experience and I hope that one day I'll meet more!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I've learned loads about bikes and commuting on bikes - road position and so forth, I've been inspired by some of the tales on here (Banjo and Amazing Shrinking Gaz) in particular, felt the warm glow from being able to pass on advice to those (few) that are less experienced than me, used Commuting as a good place to rant about motons thereby saving me doing it at home and worrying Mrs-LC.

All that kind of stuff really.

I actually enjoy P&L (arguing about random issues is mental exercise in the same way that cycling is physical exercise...). I don't think I have learned anything like as much from this forum as I did from the old C+ Forum but that's largely because of the absence of thesource of all bike technical knowledge, Pete Biggs (who hangs out at YACF now) and also because I don't seem to have many cycling questions right now - when I first signed up at C+ I hardly had a clue what I was doing on a bike. The racing discussion here also is not that good - although Skip Madness almost makes up for the absence of many other knowledegable people on his own!

But I just like this place for better or worse. There's people I've known (virtually) for a long time on here. That's it really.

I've been fortunate to have travelled far and wide to meet forumers and apart from the PfS last year (where we had a 50+ mile jaunt) they've been in a pub and nowhere near a bike.

I like the banter and mild piss-taking in the cafe, much as it would be in real life, I expect; P&L is far too serious for me with one or two having their heads slightly too far up their back passage!

I've learned a lot about the pro game, and realised that I wouldn't make a very good directeur sportif (cos even Speich - - can beat me in the Fantasy Tours!).

A lot of tips and swopping of tales have been useful regarding Touring and Expedition.

All in all, 'tis a very useful and entertaining way to waste spend far too many hours with my virtual mates!
