In what way has the combined expertise and loveliness of CC members improved your lot?

Well, apart from the cameraderie and helpful advice on all sorts of things, I've been the recipient of numerous freebie bike bits and gifts - I guess it's a sort of karma for the knitted things. (Hope the hat is keeping you warm Dan_bo!) Anyone who's contributed will know who they are. I'm still working my way through the Parmesan, by the way....

And there have been some great days out on the bike and a great camping weekend and my first sportive, thanks to the York and Hull posse. Not to mention the impetus to get out more this summer, and get my first century.

Lots of good advice - whether it was bike tinkering or more positioning on the road (most important one being don't go up the side of a lorry - though that was in the old C+ days). Buying tips - I have several bits of gear based on either recommendation or the bargain thread. Then there is also the general information that isn't bike related and the glimpses ups and downs of life for other forummers. I look on other forums but tend to post only on this one - its the best combination of information, friendlyness and fun.

You've all kept me amused whilst recovering from my accident (still not out on bike but turbo trainering.... urgh)

Lots. I've learned a lot about cycling for a start. And forums got me into participating in cycle sport. Before that most of my cycling was commuting on an MTB-based hack and a Brompton.

I wouldn't've entered a local time trial if it wasn't for a posting on the old C+ forum.

And I was inspired to try cyclocross on here. And minutes after being inspired someone was selling a 'cross frame, which I bought.

Met some great people - I won't name names for fear of forgetting someone, but there's quite a few and they've all been good company.
Recieved a 105 groupset from someone who trusted me to send a cheque in return.
Gained a book and passed a few on.
Did a few days work.
Rode a penny. And a few 'bents.
And had far too much tea and cake

it's also a great distraction when mrs alecetc is at work, the kids are in bed, and due to that i can't get out on the bike…

When i get to work, i boot up the PC and see whats happening before starting work.
Dinnertime...see whats new.
Late afternoon...see whats new.
Then i get home and probably log on twice in the evening.

I wouldnt be doing that if it i were'nt getting some enjoyment out of it. You just never know whats going to get posted next....the subject matter is endless, sometimes serious, sometimes hilarious, sometimes completely unimportant....but nearly always worth a read.

Where do I start? Thanks to my lovely friends in the CC East Yorkshire posse and their patience I've blossomed from someone who could barely cycle 10 miles to doing my first century! We've had some good times, done our first sportive together and even gone camping. Long may it continue.

As for the virtual CC, you've all given me endless hours of entertainment as well as a lot of knowledge. I love the friendly banter and quick wit.

But my favourite thing about CycleChat has to be the very happy year I've had with Spandex. Thank you CycleChat.
