Why does Keira Knightley play herself in the Waitrose ad but Joe Wilkinson play someone else?

Maybe I've misremembered it, but Joe did look like his usual, shambolic self-deprecating character.

But assuming you're right .. maybe because Ikea is much better known? So the joke will still work for viewers who have never seen Joe before?

I recognised Kiera Knightly immediately, I had no idea who the guy was.

Just looked him up, and it looks like he is one of those people who is famous for being famous. There is quite a long list of panel show type programs he has been on, none of which I have watched recently (Used to watch Have I got News For You, and Never Mind the Buzzcocks, but haven't for at least 15 years), and a few comedy series that I have also never watched.

what I’m alluding to is that he doesn’t just appear on game shows which is what you are alluding to.
Its almost like like your trying post your like lack of awareness of what’s current popular comedy.

Perhaps you should have read all of my post then, since I did say "and a few comedy series".

But yes, I have very little awareness of current popular comedy.
