Just back from a wee tour of the southside/city centre
Main roads have been gritted, are mostly free of icy patches in the Rutherglen, Toryglen, King's Park areas. All clear till Shawfield (went round on my way back), avoid the cycle lane though, still quite icy.
Avoid also Shawfield industrial estate and the Clyde walkway, if you don't have studs.
Rode to Victoria Road via Lakefield bus depot, it was fine if you stay on the main roads. The cycling path from Hampden to Cathcart has not been gritted, still icy.
Riding from Victoria road to town, via the bus/cycle lane was not good, a lot of big holes opened in the tarmac, seemed like Bagdad after a bombing!
Also had the impression that from there all the way to town the area had not been gritted at all.
Great news for us that need to cut through Glasgow Green: most of the paths have been gritted, even a road bike can make it, with care.
Attention though: the entrances/exits of the Green are full of icy slush!
If you ride through the 5 aside bit, take extra care on joining the path and at the junction to join the main road.
Was out for about an hour, saw only 3 cyclists: one was attempting to ride on the shared path towards Dalmarnock, bad idea.
Ride safe!
