 when hiring a 71/2 tonner people should realise its bigger than their Transit/Astra and drive accordingly, used to get this all the time when I was in shopfitting. The weight/size laws want tightening up further than they have been as far too many people can drive that type of vehicle on a car licence. :cursing:
don't quote me on it but i believe they might well have done so for everyone with new licences so they are just waiting for all the older drivers with old licences to get off the road and all will be good, theoretically
then again bus drivers have to get x,y and z licenses and complete so many many hours of training etc but it still didn't stop one passing as close as above lorry to me on an A road just before a blind bend and in a huge double decker! :cursing::cursing::cursing:

Another 20 years at least, probably longer if the retirement age goes up. They should have re-classified them as class 3 HGV along with 'Luton' bodied vans. Might stop some muppets crossing the Forth bridge if they realised just how big they are.

I can drive one of them or tow a trailer and have never taken a test for either. Not that I would, long wheelbase Transit is enough for me. If I ever need one I will either find and man with a van or take some lessons.

that is for older drivers but for the younger ones we have to take a test to drive such a weight of vehicle and another licence to tow any trailer over 750kg or 3500kg vehicle and trailer combined weight
shame as i have been towing since i was about 13 or so  and operating tractors weighing 3.5 ton and capable of pulling over 10 ton since around that age. but i guess they don't know that and they simply have to test everyone

One would assume that the driver is an aggressive bully and/or educationally subnormal.

Being a bully is a matter of choice but being educationally subnormal (normally referred to as having learning difficulties nowadays) is just a fact of life. So calling someone a bully is OK, and in this case probably correct, but using educationally subnormal as a derogatory term is not.
