Insurance replacement bike

Hiya all,

Been a while and all (I won't go into why!!)

But sadly Lady Bikelor was written off a couple off weeks ago (I have cried. A lot.) And now I have to get a replacement through the insurance.

The crappy thing being that I have to get it from a specific website, so I can't have it properly fitted/set up, etc.

So the thing is, that they have offered me a straight swap or credit.

Now my 2010 bike was a lovely black but the new one is...... coral (eww) so I am not going for a straight replacement. Bearing in mind I HAVE to get it from this site, I have whittled it down to three, anyone got any insight into any of these bikes, as reviews are all well and good, but I prefer actual real people!

Suggest you go to brand sites and extract geometry data for you size and work out the horizontal reach.
Scott is 105, others are Tiagra. Scott also provide womany saddle.
Make sure you get pedals (not usually supplied), and any other accessories lost.

You probably don't have to get it from a specific website. Assuming that you're claiming off someone else's insurance then they have the responsibility to put you back in the same position as you were in before they wrote off your bike. Which includes making sure it fits you properly and is safely set up.

Just be polite and persistent.

They like to refer you to certain sources cos they get a discount. If you're claiming off someone else there's no compulsion to use their suppliers and thus be restricted in choosing a suitable replacement.

So, just spoke to Tesco. They said that "it could take years to recover the cost from the other party and probably not at all" (Which, as I used to work in insurance, I know is a load of old rot)

I have now spoken to the replacement people and they said that they don't actually have the scott in stock and recommended this one:

Why would i want to ride a bike that looks like a box of tampons?

Going off the others (except the scott) the Gaint is still a better spec (only just) do they have any more ?
But you really need to ride them !!

Indeed! You can't decide which will feel best, ride best, suit you best by reading a spec sheet.

Looks ok...105 spec and bit more maintenance having disc brakes !!

Well, the ones on my old bike were sora and tiara so a slight step up and thought that I might give disc break a go as I am alway wearing down my brake pads.

It was a tough one, as I also liked the Cube Attain SL but the Giant just fit me a bit better and was more comfy.

Hee hee, I just don't don't like hills (I don't mind up, even though I am VERY SLOW) down hill anything above 5 MPH is TOO FAST.
Christmas has come a bit early... although I am still to do the dreaded "first ride after an accident", which is never fun.

So You need to built some confidence That should come in time with your new bike and getting out more often "Practice makes perfect"
Having disc brakes may help you as braking will be improved .

Disc brakes are fantastic. You won't look back.
Bike looks good.
