If there are so many better, cheaper, easier, stronger, better OS etc phones about why do people buy Apple in such great numbers? They can't all be stupid.

PS I don't have an iPhone.

With Apple I have to do absolutely 0 maintenance and because we are on it for both phones and tablets it's all seamless.
It's not quite maintainence free is it because you have to do the iOS updates but I know what you mean. If you have several Apple devices then the integration is a big plus point.

Congratulations on having a family with a rudimentary understanding of how apps and virus work.

The problem is that there was no credit card set up on my kid's devices so they could only download free stuff and (then) 7 year old girls are drawn to the pinks apps with kitties on them and the funny writing, and my dad is a tight wad who won't pay for something if there is a free alternative available. Unfortunately the free knock off apps is where the virus live. To give you a example of how bad my dad's one was, it took 5 mins for the kindle app to load and 10 seconds for each page turn.

The Apple store being so closed off saves them from themselves.

That you know of...

Screen savers clashing was also a real joy.

As I said, congratulations on having a family that are not idiots when it comes to technology. I think the kind way of saying it when it comes to mine is "it's not their gift". I can't tell you what everybody else's experience with android is, I'm sure there are many people very happy with it. I on the other hand couldn't stand it, from the cluttered interface down to the store with no quality control. I don't give a flying fig that I've given all my options away to apple, good, these are the options I don't want or need. I've done my time with all of that when I was building PCs in the med to late 1990s which was pre-plug and play and you had to do manually work out stuff like clocking and power settings which would take days upon days upon days.

Our Android devices are all plug and play.[/QUOTE]
