I don't know but I fancy doing this route ^_^
Most of it is fairly quiet , but there are a few bits that aren't.
Fast traffic, narrow roads but I love cycling out there.

Agreed,
it's a lovely stretch from Kirkie to Strathblane..
I met no one..
the road part can be quiet with the occasional 'Nigel Mansell' wanabee..
also once you get past Kirkintilloch which seems to have the busiest section of canal bank in Ecosse...

We didn't use the canal at all this time.
I think I put my mate off canal paths last year doing Glasgow to Edinburgh and back all on the canals.
F&C is ok. The Union is terrible.

I didn't mind the Union but I wasn't a fan of the bridges..
60 odd between Falkirk and Edinburgh I think...

Weather is miserable outside, so I’m spending some time planning adventures for when it improves.

One route I’ve been thinking about is from here in Darkest Ayrshire to Glasgow, then on to Edinburgh, then train back.

Getting to Glasgow is fine - got several options, all of which are familiar - but I’m not sure on the best route from Glasgow to Edinburgh.

cycle.travel is suggesting Route754 - Forth & Clyde canal to Falkirk, then Union canal to Edinburgh, or route 75 - Uddingston, Airdrie, Bathgate-Livingston.

Or maybe something else?

What’s the pros and cons of each route? Which do you prefer?
