There are plenty of choices, many of them can turn the night into day.. should you find £200+ in you pocket that you don't particulary need..
I didn't use to cycle at night either (it's too scary where I live), but I got a new job (yeeeee) and it looks like at like I will be able to commute. However I do need a pair of good lights in order to do that safely.. It's almost pitch black at 16:30 already! :ninja:
Because I do so much of my riding in the dark - I usually am on the roads very early, doing thirty miles between 4:30 and 6:30am - I invested in a quite pricy Lupine light a few years ago and I really like it. It is extremely well made, well designed, weatherproof, utterly reliable, bright, has long burn times and is easy to put on and take off the bike. THe beam colour and spread are both very nice too. I know you can get much cheaper lights, but given all the hours I use my light over a year, and the fact that I am often far from home on really ark and lonely country lanes I wanted something utterly reliable. Lupine lights are really expensive, and wouldn't be worth it for a lot of folks, but in my case I was glad to have spent the dosh and felt I got my money's worth.

Make £300+ then..
(that's half the price of my complete bike btw :giggle: )

I met a 7 month old Staffie on the bus yesterday. He was brindle and looked lovely, and all he wanted to do was say hello to everyone, get stroked/patted and just generally bounce about as Staffies do.
Apparently the owner and his young daughter had just picked him up from somewhere, so he was being taken to his new home for the first time. I just hope it all works out as he seemed to be a really good natured and friendly (and good looking) dog.

That's great to hear, I hope he grows up to be a well loved, happy and balanced dog.

Just had my elderly parents down from Cumbria to stay for a week. Had a great time. My Dad, who was a Cat 1 racing cyclist in the late 50's/early 60's is now c8 years into the b**ta*d Parkinsons, coupled with heart problems.

However, he remains the most optimistic person I know, and, of course, my inspiration. He may not be able to ride races or time trials anymore, but, when the Parkinson shakes aren't too bad, he can still whip me at a game of pool! Proud of you Dad.

A lovely victoria sponge found me on the way home and asked if it could come home with me. I couldn't find the heart to refuse! The poor thing all alone in the world, into the cold display! It was getting dark as well..
(convincing enough or shall I go on?)

yes I was coming past glastonbury on sunday and this cyclist coming towards me had better lights than my car !
I've always found bike lights rubbish , must be a new bread of lights , it made me think - I wont some - but then I remembered I don,t cycle at night - damn.[/quote

Well it's been dull as you know what around here today! Most cars had their sidelights(even head and fog lights ) on by 2.30pm! I also noticed some cyclists with very decent headlights! You can use them on some days so you have no excuse!;)

You just have to be in awe of what can now be achieved with bread, how many lumens would that be?
