£50 is very generous and I am sure your daughter will appreciate your cash gift Accy
Drago, lucky for you to be in a position to be able to give so much. The problem with that is that the more you give, the more they expect.

Lucky, no - I worked hard for it. Fortunate, yes - with so many starving folk and war and famine we are very fortunate in the UK, and I do pause to reflect upon that occasionally.

You're absolutely bang on - unfortunately, she ain't getting no more until I'm in my box!

21 x £1 coins glued/sellotaped/welded in a happy birthday card

21 x €1 coins glued/sellotaped/welded in a holiday related card
One of my most memorable Christmas presents was the year pound coins became a thing. My dad put 20 pound coins in a leather pouch and wrapped it up. I felt all grown-up because i got money and like a pirate all at the same time!

Well to add to the responses, I think much depends on the context. To answer simply, yes, I think it's more than enough. In fact, just my opinion, but I think if any daughter doesn't think its enough, well, your daughter really has a problem!

To add on to the Euros and Amethyst idea, I'll say what I told my brother (who, being divorced, isn't doing as well financially as his ex-wife wife who takes their daughter on more extravagant vacations): if you think back to your childhood, my strongest memories of my parents are being with them as them being parents, not how much they spent on me. I don't know your relationship with your daughter, but if you can, try to create a memory as well.

What you can afford financially is more than enough. It doesn’t have to be money though and the photograph is a nice idea.

You obviously have run out of time now but why not have a personal memory ready for when she returns?

We are huge Rovers fans in our house. Aged 8 my eldest boy was lucky enough to be with me at Anfield when we became Premier League champions. Unknown to him I kept our tickets amongst other memorabilia of the day. On his 21st birthday I presented him with his framed ticket. Telling him I thought he was now old enough to look after it properly!! Nearly 12 years later it’s still on display in his house and he regards it as his most enjoyed present.

Gives me a kick every time I see it.

Going a bit off topic,i was at the Full Members Final in 1987,and when Rovers won their play off final at Wembley in 1992.

I phoned her(daughter)up last night. I wished her a happy birthday then went round to post a card through the door. I told her i'll take a present round when she's back on Saturday. She understood and seemed more concerned about packing for her holiday. I'm thinking of taking her out for a meal. That'll kind of make up for her not having/wanting a family and friends get together.

£50 is very generous regardless of your personal circumstances, it's a lot of money.

If you did want to get an actual "thing" you can buy tickets for The Sagrada Familia online. Other experiences in Barcelona are available, the Nou Camp is amazing and you don't have to enjoy football to appreciate it.
