My grandad was an avid rose grower and won prizes.
I remember a favourite of mine was called 'Blue Moon' I think...I was fascinated by it's colour.

I haven't put any new roses in our new garden, but I did put in some cuttings from our old garden, but I forgot to label them and they haven't flowered yet. Hopefully my white old one that smelled of lemon is one of them, though I don't remember it's name.

Well, write it down boy ......
Zepherine Drouhin, the thornless one. Don't put in a hot place though, doesn't like it. I have mine against a west wall near the garage and every time I get my bike out in June I can't resist smelling a bloom.
And rambling rector, if you want a rose which will climb up very high. I took a cutting once (it rooted so easily) and planted it near some 30` conifers and forgot about it. A few years later it had scrambled up and it looked like the conifers were covered in snow. Don't try to restrain it, it's a bit of a thug.

Cecile Brunner, also thornless. Beautiful little pal pink cluster rose. There are plenty of good thornless roses (no good if you've already got the thorny kind and don't like them, obv).

Rambling Rector is a menace! I love it, very beautiful, thorns like spears, it has eaten my enormous double-garage which is actually as tall as a house!
