I believe the extra cardiovascular strain supposedly shortens your life expectancy.
A very experienced and long serving male nurse once said to me that you rarely see tall and heavy old men as their hearts pump harder than others,so they wear out quicker. Before anyone shouts me down, take it up with him not me as i'm only quoting what he said.
when i went for a bone density scan. "Sorry to tell you Mr Accy but i'm afraid you're no longer a 6 footer. You're now only 5ft 11inch"!!
. I must say though that it hasn't really bothered me as i still seem to stand above most people around here. For example, i went out with a walking group yesterday. I found that i was the tallest by a good few inches. Also being very slim ( I'm10 stone exactly) makes you look taller,so i've been told.
