Is it just me or is £15.99 too much for takeaway pizza?

Pizza Express. The only really great pizzas out there. Don't mind paying for them. Goes down well with a Peroni beer.

A long time ago in a galaxy far, far away.

But you do need something to reply to, otherwise your post count would go down. ^_^
You too have execised some restraint in your posting, even I might have been tempted by this one...
I think for cost of raw ingredients versus the final price, take away pizza simply must be the biggest markup in food industry history. I almost wish I'd have bought a Dominos franchise years ago, it has to be a licence to print money. Zero hours contracts for staff, cheap ingredients, and a massive end price with no shortage of people willing to pay it.

Has he no idea?

16 quid for a pizza? Blimey!!!

I usually make my own from scratch as it's a good way to use up random stuff in the fridge. Or else I buy decent chilled ones on YS - would never contemplate buying full price. Last week I had a Pizza Express pepperoni pizza for 56p  Picked up a Co-op spicy chicken one tonight for £1.25, but it's twice the size of last week's.

What get's me is the price of a bland chain take away pizza compared with a hand made one in a proper (cue discussion on what that means !) Italian restaurant.

How can a domino's cost £16 if a Pizza in a restaurant costs £10?

The recipe we use doesn't have yeast.

Off the top of my head, it's flour, tinsy bit of baking powder, pinch of salt & pepper, small quantity of water and a little olive oil.

Mix, roll out the dough, 'dry fry' it for a few mins. Use a plate to invert the pizza, back in the pan on a low heat whilst you put the ingredients on the now cooked side. Finish off with a drizzle of olive oil and bung it under the grill to finish!
Thanks. I'm going to try that.

My local is £4.50 for a 10 inch. You could get almost four pizzas for the price of one at dominoes. They used to be good value then prices rocketed when they started a massive advertising campaign a few years ago.
One big name I'd not buy from.

Because the chains aren't selling a pizza they're selling the convenience of a delivered (usually) pizza and their marketing convinces enough people it is worth it.

I think I'd rather have a proper one, at least it will taste of something other than the bix it came in :-)

So would I. I never have pizza delivered. But it's a different market with different price points. Their peak times are later in the evening for people who find themselves hungry or drunk and succumb to the marketing.
