Nipped into my local ship on the way home earlier, I parked the car outside as I came out I heard a crack and another car was sat on my bumper, I asked the woman to pull forward so I could check for damage but she just drove off, luckily there is none but I do have the dashcam footage. Is it worth a call to the old bill??

No

Yes. someone drove into my wife's car when it was in the car park. to much of it going on. the police will not do anything about it, but it may make you feel better.
So really a complete waste of time.

If you tell the police, you'll also need to tell your insurance company...and the incident could well lead to your policy being more costly next year (indeed for the next 5 years) even if no claim is made (as a non fault accident). Technically you should actually tell them regardless if you read the policy Ts & Cs

Firstly, are you sure there's no damage?

Not all damage is visible.

As an example, someone reversed into a car of mine years ago.

No apparent damage, but I discovered months later the headlamp adjuster wasn't working.

Not a problem as I never used it, but I would still suggest you check your car carefully.

Yes, it's a hit & run which often indicates other offences are present.
She may be unlicensed, uninsured, drunk or whatever else. I'd report it.

I found myself in a very similar situation this summer, we came out to the car one late dark evening and daughter heard a light bang as a van was awkwardly backing up near my car. The occupants looked around and drove off smartly before we had a chance to talk to them. My wing was severely damaged. I ran up the road, knowing it' a loop and they had to come out further up...saw the van took the reg and reported to the police.

Car repaired, although I had to pay the excess until or if liability was accepted by the driver.

It was a hire van, police did their stuff and came back with the driver at the time denied he hit anything...case closed...i guess because i couldn't physically identify who was driving.

So knowing the cars reg doesn't necessarily mean the driver is bang to rights.

Don't waste your time and effort contacting a disinterested stats collector in a Police call centre.
Do some enquiries of your own, find out where the driver lives, and take another menace off the road......

Report them to the old bill for the offence of failing to stop at the scene of an accident. Idiots like this deserve some hassle from the police. Also, if your car has been damaged, you can show you followed the rules even if the other driver didn't. Tell your insurer of the hit & run as well, and give them the reg number of the other vehicle.

Here's the clue in bold

I would be astounded if the Police, in this modern age, even bothered to speak to the registered keeper of the car under the circumstances given by the OP.. They MIGHT run a check on the car to make sure it is taxed, insured, and MOT'd.. If that is all in order, that is where their interest will cease.
