Is it worth sunbathing in October?

It's 17C and warm unbroken sunshine out there:sun:. The thing is i'd like to top up my fading tan. I've just stood outside for 5 minutes and felt the warm sun's rays on my face and arms, but is the sun too far away now to be strong enough to tan me? I know i'll get a vitamin D boost but will i top up my tan if i sit out for say 3 hours in October?

Will it make you happier than sitting indoors?

If so do it, if not.....

The Vitamin D boost will certainly help your hip heal. :sun:

Yes, go and catch a tan. It isn't the distance of the sun so much as the inference angle. Just angle yourself nicely so that your body connects the rays at 90 degrees and you'll get the good stuff from those rays. this time of the year the sun is low in the sky.

The UV index forecast for today round here (not far from Accy) is only 2 on a UK scale of 1-8 so I don't think there is going to be much tanning going on, but I suppose every little counts. Anyway, it is much nicer to be out in the sun rather than cooped up indoors.

I'm just letting my lunch go down and catching up with online stuff, then I will be off out for 3 hours of sunny cycling.:sun:
