Be thankful he didn't run the red light in a car....
Come to think of it; 23:30 last Thursday, Fiat 500 went through a red whilst I was on green crossing on a dedicated, off-road, cycle route. But that happens a lot, after dark, in cph.

.....sometimes a training run is just a chore you have to get through devoid of all moments...

I can imagine. If running is so boring, why don't you go out on your bike instead?

I could write an entire thread on that. And I hope it will change from end of the month when the current gig in cph finishes. But for now running is the logistically easiest way to get/keep fit.

Some runs are wonderful, parkruns are brilliant, group runs amazing, but sometimes on a long slow (Sunday) solo run it does get tedious. I need better scenery and landscape I think!

I know that there is a forum discussing the safety aspect of wearing headphones while cycling, but I don't get the very idea of listening to music while doing some sporting activity.
Sometimes cycling isn't sport and the distraction can help you not mind getting from A to B so much.

Same reason people have car stereos, really.

I know that there is a forum discussing the safety aspect of wearing headphones while cycling, but I don't get the very idea of listening to music while doing some sporting activity. I want to be 'in the moment' and savouring the ride, the scenery etc. If I were listening to music then that's what I would be paying attention to - the cycling, skiing (whatever) would just be something going on in the background.

for me, music doesn't detract from the cycling experience, it enhances it.You still get the same scenery etc just with a soundtrack. Half the time all you can hear is wind blasting in your ears anyway

I know it smacks of double-standards but I can't be doing with music on a bike. Didn't mind the odd bit of Radio Four when I had 20km each way commute thobut, but then I'd only have the nearside earbud in place.

i dont understand the reference to helmet wearing in a derogatory manner

Where was that?
In my OP.

The thing is helmet wearers are nobbers.

In Copenhagen, where maybe 2% of cyclists wear them.

Sorry to read of your misfortune, at least you are here to tell the tale and your injuries are fairly minor. Headphone wearing cyclists, pedestrians and vehicle operators are a menace, too busy concentrating on their music instead of paying attention to the roads.
The headphones are a red herring, he probably ran the red light because he is a nobber.

Q. Why do Ralph Lauren Polo shirts have that logo on them?
A. So the public know a nobber when they see one.

as with logos so with personalised plates and cycle helmets in cph...
