So slightly off topic...........what, apart from the obvious rude names, are people who hail from Rhyl called?

Rhyl donians?
Rhyl ites?
Rhyl eneans?

It isn't the nicest place on the planet.... however, not a million miles up the road is Conwy. Still no match for many upmarket seaside resorts, but it has three things to recommend it. It has a tremendous seafront with great fishing,

it's near Peniarth Bach farm campsite where Cubester and I go to have some bloke time ,

and of course it's only half an hour to Gwydr Forest, Coed Y Brenin and Penmachno.
008.jpg Oh, and I forgot the kebab shop on the main road.

Never been to Rhyl, but stayed in Porthmadoc a couple of years ago for a couple of nights...won't be hurrying back. Canarvon on the other hand...yes please...wish we had stayed there instead.

I won't have a bad word said against Portmadoc. It's home of the Welsh Highland Railway, the Ffestiniog Railway, the Welsh Highland Heritage Railway - arguably the true owners of the title 'Welsh Highland Railway' - the chicanery indulged in by the Ffestiniog Railway in wrestling control of the WHR from the WHHR has to be one of the biggest acts of treachery in the preserved railway world, and Cob Records - readers of Sounds and NME will be familiar with its adverts, any one of which is good enough reason to spend a couple of days there. The place is steeped in history if you're interested enough to look for it.

Portmeirion down the road too. Porthmadoc is a very very nice place.

back to Rhyl. so bad a place the local scummers stole the security lighting and the vandal resistant cages fitted to stop em getting nicked.

it has improved in the last 20 yrs though despite losing the funfair the opposite end to the sun centre . not in snowdonia but at the Northern end of the clwydian range. was always ace riding down to Rhyl from Dyserth, but with a little push you can be in snowdonia quite quickly

I grew up about 20 miles from Rhyl - we were lucky enough not to go there on holiday.

Caernarfon is a nicer place than it used to be, too.
