Is there a best/correct way to hang decorative balls on a christmas tree ?

Here's ours, with a combination of Nightmare before Christmas and Harry Potter baubles, as well as a random dinosaur and a pink glittery thing my daughter found in B&M...

If, as per the picture above*, its in a corner of the room, you can place fewer on the side that's facing into the corner.

*I'm assuming that the door on the left of the picture isn't in use. Bad place to put the tree.

We removed the door handle so it wouldn’t clout the tree if opened, we used the dining room door to enter the room.
