I was a victim of my own hubris today; I'd installed new brifters (replacing broken tiagra with 105), cables and outers. Adjusted everything. Took it for a ride, found I was missing the lowest gear, took it home and tweaked it: voila!
For some reason I decided to describe this to someone rather smugly (I'm not great at bike maintenance, so I was pleased with myself). Of course, less than 10 minutes later, I crested a hill and tried to move back to the large cog. Nothing. Checked and the cable was slack. I hadn't tightened the holding-bolt enough, and it had slipped.
So, does the p*nct*re fair have a sister?
