Hi all,

I am new to cycling and really have the bug for it.

I made the mistake of buying a Carrera Crossfire 2 Hybrid Bike 2011/2012 instead of a road bike so i cant get the speeds i could.

I have been training for just a few weeks and have a avg speed of 16mph over 20miles, is this any good for the bike i am on?

Does any one have any good training programs to improve the speed?

Thank you

Is this a super-hilly urban 20 miler or flat rural stuff??

Stop worrying about speeds. If you want to measure your progress work on distance, speed will come on its own.

But for the record, IMO 16mph ave is very good for a hybrid, regardless of terrain/conditions.

The route has about 12 small up/down hills and about 6 long hills with quick drop offs the rest is flat road

Oh and i have 16stone of weight to carry too....lol :-)
