Is this chain too short?

I put a pair of links back in, in the end.

Nobody noticed that the chain was running the wrong side of the little angle piece in the cage! It feels smoother now it's not running over that!

That's because it takes most of us at least ten miles to investigate and discover the reason for that appalling racket the new bike we've built up is making.
