I am loking to get a little more serious with my cycling, currently just for fun and so thought i'd start with a computer to monitor my performance.
However there are so many to choose from and they vary so much in price i saw this and thought it may be a ggod start https://www.amazon.co.uk/gp/product/B07DHL6LKZ/ref=as_li_tl

I know i could use my iphone but didn't really want to have it strapped to my handlebars just incase of accident or it falls off. I do take my phone incase i have an issue with my bike though.

I'm sure it'll be fine. You can still use your iPhone to collect more detailed data on Strava or similar. It'll work perfectly well with the phone in a tri bag, saddle bag, pannier or whatever other luggage you use on the bike. I wouldn't put my phone in a jersey pocket as it'll get hot (bodyheat and if the sun is on your back) and sweaty and you could land on it if you come off the bike!

The issue with these super cheap computers from prior posts seems to be a lack of decent instructions in intelligible English!

This is what good reviews are worth:

As long as you can set your wheel + tyre size on it, it will be fine. Then run strava on your iPhone in your pocket to get a better overall recording of your ride.
