have never understood the use of spinning bikes why noy just get out and ride a proper bike on proper roads

They get your legs going even if it's snowing / monsoonal outside.
They let you find out how much discomfort you can tolerate for an hour in a controlled environment.
I don't enjoy spinning at all, but I did two sessions a week for ten weeks before I did Ventoux. That, riding 100 miles a week and losing 10 kg got me up without losing the will to live once I'd passed Chalet reynard...

And for those who diss spinning... I think you should try it. You might change your mind :thumbsup:

Yes, the first cpl of lessons is like Hell. Then is becomes bearable, and then fun! I would encourage anybody to give it a go a few times, if you are able :smile: I really miss spinning but had to quit the gym (too expensive).

I enjoy spinning and have a class every thur morn at the gym. Agree with Ant if you have not tried it it is really worth a go.
